Inner Demon Shipment
Letter Zero.67
Dear friend,
Happy Halloween and thanks for the support following my shipment of 100+ new pieces of art. Did you get one? This is the fourth mailing I’ve done and each one has been very different. You can see them all (including the new ones) at https://adrian3.com/postcards/. Which is your favorite?
(If you didn’t get a postcard this time around, don’t feel left out. Simply reply to this email with your mailing address and I will include you in future mailings. The only limitation is that I am only shipping to US addresses.)
I called this series inner demons because my process resembled a self-administered Rorschach test. I let drops of alcohol fall on a piece of thermal paper (otherwise known as a shipping label) and then stared at it until it told me what it wanted to be. Apparently there were skulls, zombies, scary masks, and various disfigured heads inside me trying to escape. Best to let them out, right?
Joking aside, we all have inner demons. I know I am not the only one trying to look like I have it all together when behind the scenes my mental health is a horror film where I’m walking through a minefield of monsters. Art can be therapy, a way to find the beauty hidden in the ugliness around and inside us. At least that seems to be what works for me. Stay creative.
Your friend,
Ade
P.S. By the way, if my demon theme was too dark for you, my next one might be butterflies (no joke). Watch my Instagram for peeks of what I am working on next.
