Hello friends. I wasn’t planning to do this, but I can’t contain my rage. This one’s going to be a rant. Sorry. But my story ends with irrational optimism so stick with me…
When I first saw the video I assumed it was just some hopeless loser desperate for likes. That would be pathetic but ignorable. But that’s not what it was. This was a high profile “unicorn” company that tried to sell their generative AI video services by copying my artwork. They saw my animation, copied it poorly, and posted it as their own original work along with a 67% off sale. Shameless parasites.
The company is Higgsfield AI. They’re supposedly valued at $1 billion. Here’s a screenshot of their Instagram feed.
Does anything stick out? Something that isn’t like the others? Yeah, there’s a random horse printed on a receipt in the middle of typical AI slop. It’s impossible that this isn’t a ripoff, I am literally the only person in the world using this technique. Here’s their video next to mine so you can compare for yourself.
This is fraud. AI may be behind the slop, but there are despicable humans behind the keyboard. Higgsfield insulted their own audience. They knew their 467k followers wouldn’t recognize that the source of this idea was my artwork. Higgsfield doesn’t follow me. They’ve never liked my posts. Higgsfield didn’t tag me in their post. If it weren’t for the outraged comments (they’re worth reading, btw) pointing people to my account, this crime would go unnoticed. I encourage you to add a comment of disgust to their post to help shame their behavior.
The infuriating thing isn’t that someone used AI to copy me. That’s gonna happen. You can’t stop the losers living in their parent’s basement from burping stupid prompts into an AI and fooling themselves into thinking they have creativity.
No, the thing that pisses me off is the lack of etiquette. Honestly, if Higgsfield had simply reached out to me, I probably would have blessed their attempt if they agreed to tag me in their ripoff post. Heck, I might have even agreed to a collaborative post. Because I want people to see what AI can do, compare it side by side to the source, and let people decide for themselves! Call me naive, but I trust humanity to support humans over slop machines.
But no. No tag. No attribution. No thank you. Just blatant theft, infringement, fraud, and disrespect. Sickening.
As someone who has read my words over the years, can you vouch for my reputation as a generous collaborator? If you haven’t experienced it firsthand, ask any artist who has reached out to me. Want to use my art with your music? I always say yes, all I ask is that you tag me when you post it. I’ve even been known to share source files if someone wants to tweak their edit to sync my video with their song.
Want to try my techniques? Go for it. My videos are 75% process to begin with, the “how to instructions” are right there for anyone to see, copy, and replicate. I encourage it! Please, give it a try. Make it your own. It’s my honor. Just be a real person, pay it forward, and be respectful. Want to collaborate? My dm’s are open. I might be too busy for a direct collab, but I’ll at least listen to your pitch. I don’t ask for much, just don’t screw me over.
Like I said, this isn’t how I expected AI to screw me.
What I expected was to be ignored to death. I was bracing for artistic irrelevance, not to be plagiarized. I thought AI would flood all the channels with irresistible eye candy tailored to the individual tastes of each human. I expected real artists to become extinct. Why didn’t THAT happen? I’ll tell you why…
Because artist will never be extinct, we are the heartbeat that AI will never have. I may be a tiny voice in a sea of creators but people are noticing. The louder the slop hits the fan, the more humans crave artists who refuse to abandon their unorthodox methods. I attribute any success I’ve had to my willingness to be real, to show my mistakes, to share my process, and to take risks.
That’s something AI can’t possibly replicate. It is also why I end all my posts with encouragement to “stay creative.” Because I know that the closer you get to originality, the lonelier you will feel. You’ll want to give up. That’s what AI is delivering: loneliness. The fact that the AI flagged my work as something to emulate, that means I have something they wish they had: loyal fans and the respect of my peers. It may not feel like it but I’m not alone, and neither are you.
So here’s some irrational optimism. The rage you feel against AI… the hatred and disgust… that’s a signal that we are actually winning. We may keep getting kicked in the gut by lazy plagiarists, but humanity is still in control. And we are eager to applaud other humans who refuse to abandon originality. Let them copy us, it will backfire. Creators hate fakery and we rally to support the human touch. That will never change. I thank you for your support, and trust me, I’ll be there to mock the AI when it tries to copy you.

You’re absolutely right to call them out directly. I went to leave a comment under this reel and saw that many other people had already done the same, so I believe it was the right move.
I really hope they apologise to you, otherwise it’s hard to call this a mistake or sloppiness. It’s just straight up unethical. And I’m saying this as someone who doesn’t hate AI as a product.
But damn, how stupid is this.. Why use it to create or steal art? It should be a tool to assist people, not a replacement for someone’s brain.
